The Pasadena Villa Outpatient Difference

Customized Treatment

We tailor our care to meet each client's needs and challenges, ensuring a personalized approach that supports meaningful progress and lasting recovery.

At Pasadena Villa Outpatient, we offer personalized care tailored to each client’s needs and goals. We believe individuals are more than their diagnoses — their past experiences and future aspirations shape them.

Our dedicated clinical team, including board-certified psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, registered art therapists, and licensed professional counselors, collaborates with clients and their families to create treatment plans that promote lasting recovery.

Compassionate Care

Our clinical team develops personalized treatment plans, empowering clients to discover new ways to lead fulfilling lives.

In a supportive, healing environment, we take a whole-person approach, integrating evidence-based therapies that guide clients from clinical care to independent self-care.

Weekly tailored groups teach practical skills for navigating life’s challenges, while individual therapy, group therapy, and family sessions ensure comprehensive support.

Together, these approaches promote meaningful progress and enhance each client’s overall quality of life.

Collaborative Environment

With permission, our providers collaborate with clients' existing care teams to ensure seamless, coordinated treatment.

The treatment process begins with a comprehensive assessment by the primary therapist. This includes consultations — with client consent — with the client’s prescriber, psychotherapist, loved ones, and other providers.

Our experienced psychiatrists oversee care, conduct evaluations, and manage medication as needed. They also coordinate with community providers, ensuring seamless care continuity as clients transition into and out of our program.

Collaboration with other community providers is a cornerstone of our approach, allowing us to serve as an extension of the client’s broader care team, ensuring seamless continuity of care throughout the client’s transition into and out of our program.

Our Levels of Care

Pasadena Villa Outpatient in Raleigh offers two comprehensive levels of care — a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and an intensive outpatient program (IOP). To offer added flexibility, we also provide both an in-person evening intensive outpatient program (E-IOP) and a virtual intensive outpatient program (V-IOP), allowing clients to access care during evening hours to better fit their schedules.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our PHP provides intensive treatment in a supportive, less restrictive setting than inpatient care. Clients attend a structured program during the day while returning home in the evenings, fostering a foundation for long-term recovery.

PHP is ideal for individuals experiencing symptoms such as withdrawal from activities, behavioral challenges, depression, anxiety, pervasive psychiatric disorders, or risk of harm to themselves or others.

Programming includes six hours of group therapy, five days a week, with family therapy scheduled as needed. The average length of stay is six to eight weeks.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Our IOP supports individuals facing heightened symptoms or challenges that traditional outpatient services have not resolved. This program provides additional treatment and support to promote meaningful progress and establish a strong foundation for transitioning to community-based care.

Programming includes three hours of group therapy at least three days per week, with the length of stay tailored to each client’s progress toward their treatment goals.

In-Person Evening IOP (E-IOP)

Evening programming is perfect for individuals balancing work, school, or other daytime commitments.

Our evening IOP program is an eight-week course designed for convenience, meeting exclusively on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm EST.

Virtual Evening IOP (V-IOP)

Our virtual evening programming — available statewide in North Carolina — is perfect for individuals balancing work, school, daytime, or travel commitments.

Sessions are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm EST.

Virtual therapy for mental health disorders has been proven as effective as in-person treatment when supported by a strong clinical team and the right program.

Voices from Our Community

"Pasadena Villa was my safe space for 8 weeks — and I could not be more grateful for it. I came into the program feeling incredibly lost and scared about my future, and I was anxiously hopeful about this program. My expectations were far exceeded, and I'm not being dramatic when I say this place has hugely impacted how I approach life."

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

On your first visit, you’ll be greeted by the Office Coordinator and given a tour of the facility. You’ll learn where to store your items, access snacks and coffee, and where to meet with providers.

After completing your admissions documents, you’ll have a private intake session with a therapist. This session focuses on gathering your history and current symptoms and developing a treatment plan tailored to your goals.

Depending on availability, most clients will also meet with the medication provider during their first visit. The Office Coordinator will inform you upon arrival.

You’ll be introduced to the group, but there’s no pressure to speak or take any special action. We encourage you to be present and open, listen, and take note of any questions. Remember, everyone was once new to this process. Feel free to ask others about their experiences when you’re comfortable!

In rare cases, during the intake process, we may determine that a client requires a higher level of care than we provide. Our primary goal is to ensure the client receives the safest and most effective treatment. If this occurs, a clinician will contact the emergency contact supplied by the client to explain the next steps.

With the client’s consent, we will request a release of information and collaborate with the hospital or residential treatment center to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of care. When appropriate, we hope to rescreen the client for admission to our PHP or IOP, depending on what is clinically best for their continued care.

No, a referral is not required unless your insurance specifically requests one. Anyone can call and request a screening for mental health services, and we are happy to assist you in scheduling an appointment.

To maintain the privacy and confidentiality of our current clients, we do not accept walk-ins. We’re committed to ensuring a comfortable, secure environment for everyone.

Our standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some locations also offer Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening hours, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

We recommend bringing any medications you take throughout the day. You’ll have access to a locker to store your medications or other personal items.

Additionally, feel free to bring a water bottle or snacks if you’d like, though snacks are provided. Some individuals also prefer to bring a sweater or sweatshirt in case the office gets chilly.

Due to programming and insurance requirements, we cannot accommodate vacations during treatment. We understand that planned vacations can be challenging to reschedule, but the focus during treatment is on long-term wellness rather than short-term escapes.

As our programming runs from 9:00am to 3:00pm, we ask that doctor appointments be scheduled outside these hours. If you have a pre-scheduled appointment that cannot be rescheduled, please note that you will not be able to attend treatment on that day, as insurance does not cover partial days of treatment. In this case, we request that you provide a doctor’s note to keep on file, excusing you from the session.

If you anticipate any changes in your insurance coverage, please notify us as soon as possible. Changes in insurance may affect your coverage, out-of-pocket costs, and other details related to your care.

The earlier we are informed, the better we can ensure you understand any potential impact on your treatment and associated costs. Our goal is to keep you well-informed throughout your care process.
